According to the holy text of Sanatan dharma such as Vedas, Upanishads and other text Lord Murugan or Bhagwan Kartikeya is the first son of Lord Shiva (one among the Trimurti) and adi shakti Parvati. He is the brother of Lord Ganesh also known as vinayaka. Kartikeya is worshiped as murugan in those areas where Tamil language is frequently spoken such as Tamilnadu, Srilanka, Malaysia, Indonesia.
